Chaos!

It has been disappointing to see the way Nike has marketed Cricket in general, but this is the first really good advertisement from Nike on Indian Cricket. Nike has a country specific website for even the Philippines but does'nt have one for India.

In the ad, they have captured the essence of Indian Cricket perfectly which is CHAOS!

Indian Cricket is pure chaos, right from the BCCI down to gully cricket.

Recently we had the Chairman of Selectors, Vengsarkar saying that Sehwag was in the team because the captain Dravid had insisted upon his selection. How Convenient! If the plan backfires, which is very likely, he's already deflected the blame on Dravid. If it succeeds he's ensured that he will get credit for "listening" to the views of the team management. Vengsarkar is among the most respected of Indian cricketers' and if he can issue such statements to save his skin, who can blame a board secretary from saying some rubbish.

A while before that there was confusion regarding the team kits and Pathan's fitness, and before that issues regarding the "flexibility" of the team, and before that the famous Ganguly-Chappel spat, and before that on Dalmiya's Money Laundering and before that .... well the list is endless.

Coming back to the ad, I love the song and the exclamations' . Another excellent detail Nike has captured is the competitiveness between the players. Also at any given point there are 3-4 people trying to bat or bowl!Watch cricket in any small field or gully and you will see or hear pretty much the same.

And I wont be surprised if they have an extension to the ad, where SreeSanth is the one that actually gets on to the bus to bowl, and does his famous Mallu break dance.

An interesting interpretation of the ad.. the word CHAOS does capture the essence succinctly in one word. I agree it was brilliant... besides the competitiveness, I thought it also showed inclusion.. as in a free-for-all with everyone wanting to be part of the action , in whatever way (with a clever use of the statue's finger!) Of course and the most important part of Indian cricket.. the ubiquitous bylookers with their opinions - yup, CHAOS all the way :) -- NJ.
